The Sea

About the Play
The Sea is a highly-acclaimed Icelandic (Yes, Icelandic.) play about Thordur, an elderly fishing industry tycoon, being pressured to sell the family business. His family reunites in their remote Icelandic home village for a New Year's Eve of Ibsen-esque angst and Chekhovian drama. It's not exactly light fare. Over the course of a few days there are lots of fights, drinking, and curse words. It's a lovely family reunion.
